Flying through a busy Summer, it’s August before we know it and, with that, comes the end of Summer festival season and the start of football season. Thankfully, even though we’re in the final few weeks of the Summer gig calendar, there are still plenty of huge names still to keep music fans busy.
In terms of festivals, two of my favourites land on the August calendar both offering something completely different in terms of artists. First up is Bloodstock, the annual metal festival which sees over 100 of the heaviest bands performing at Catton Hall. Never a disappointment, the line-up this August included the mighty Amon Amarth amongst the headliners.
Towards the end of the month, Leeds Festival rolls into Bramham Park for the annual Bank Holiday blowout. Usually an interesting weekend weather-wise, this year saw huge storms decimating the festival site and the line-up forcing daily line-up changes and some huge names drop off the bill. Still, by the Saturday afternoon, the weather had calmed down and the festival was salvaged.
Elsewhere Piece Hall in Halifax provided the home for a Summer of incredible nights with the likes of McFly, PJ Harvey, Pixes and comedian Bill Bailey providing some stellar entertainment.
